May's Birthday Card 1

And now, the cards for the toons and comic book characters celebrating their birthdays in May.

The first one goes for a creation of genius animator Isadore 'Friz' Freleng, debuting in May 5, 1945, as the antagonist of a certain rabbit in the 'Hare Trigger' cartoon. The little villain, who would soon be famous as one of the bunny's main enemies, introduced himself as "the meanest, toughest, rip-roarin'-est, Edward Everett Horton-est hombre what ever packed a six-shooter!" while attempting to rob a train. In later cartoons, he'd still play western bandit on a regular basis, but he'd adapt his villainy into several roles, including a knight, a Roman legionary, a pirate, a royal cook, a prison guard, a duke (Duke of Yosemite, no less), a Confederate soldier, a mountain climber (climbing the 'Shmadderhorn' mountain in Switzerland), a hen-pecked househusband and even a space alien... not to mention his alternative career as a popular image in mud flaps, with the legend 'Back Off'.

So, happy birthday to the rabbit hater with a tiny body and 11-gallon hat, with the largest voice and the ego "north, south, east, aaaaand west of the Pecos".
