Yells.

Maybe not 'yelling', but not easy to come with a mission acronym. Anyway, these secret agent kids made their debut in the 'What a Cartoon Short', created by Mr. Warbuton, by Curious Pictures and Cartoon Network Studios, in July 20,2001. The pilot proved popular enough to get its own series thanks to a viewers' poll, debuting December 6, 2002, and 'ending transmission' on January 21, 2008.

The series centers on the adventures of five children who operate from a high-tech tree house fighting against adult tyranny. They use advanced 2×4 technology to battle evil adult super villains, and, many times, their teenage minions/assistants. While it's later revealed that they're just a small part of a global organization, the series centers mostly on Sector V's team, composed by Numbuh 5 (the cool and relaxed former team leader, and current second in command), Numbuh 4 (hot-blooded hand-to-hand combat specialist), Numbuh 3 (the cheerful medical officer, diversionary tactics expert and caretaker), Numbuh 2 (the geeky yet super smart technology officer, pilot, and part-time private detective), and Numbuh 1 (the sector leader, and later recognized as the organization's top agent).

As a worldwide group, they comprise thousands of kids joined in mutual struggle against adult tyranny and villains that embody specific menaces to children overall (such as dental hygiene or school lunch). For every member, upon following a period of training,  they then choose a number or alphanumerical code (deliberately spelled "numbuh") and sent to a "sector", that is a tree house of ludicrous proportions. The main headquarters of the Kids Next Door is a tree house Moon Base, stablished there ages before adults even came with space travel's theory. Kids follow their oath of protecting other kids as well as battling adulthood until the age of 13, when they are "decommissioned", a process of wiping their minds of memories of any past KND activity, as they are then teenagers, and a threat to KND; such a practice has inevitably led to the creation of many KND villains who escaped decommissioning; however, some particularly notably agents escape decommissioning, serving as secret agents and spies among teens, providing the kids with valuable info.

The agents utilize a vast array of mechanical, electronic gadgets and machinery, collectively referred to as 2x4 (two-by-four) technology. The 2x4 technology was originally conceived as an assortment of common household objects, being put to use in combat situation; a theme that their weapons continued to adhere to. However, as the series progressed, the complexity of their defensive weaponry and transportation advanced to such absurd levels as to be considered science fiction, despite all of it still being constructed with nothing but household materials. A common theme of the show is the introduction of a new never-before-seen device, complete with its own acronym, in a sidebar screen that temporarily interrupts the storyline; many of these devices require military-level driving or piloting skills, in order for them to operate effectively.

The series was among Cartoon Network's main hits, the team also appearing in video games and comics; the show officially ended with 'Operation I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S.', a made-for-TV movie that combined live action segments with the animated ones. The show is still well remembered and liked by fans, with a great combination of action, comedy and occasional drama.

So, happy birthday, kids, and yes, this time you don't have to steal the cake.

- … End Transmission.
